Depart SCPL 9:45 a.m.; return 3:45 p.m. Tickets for this event go on sale on Monday, July 3 @ 8 a.m. Come take a tour behind the scenes at The Real Goodwill. Founded in 1902 by a Methodist minister and largely perceived as a thrift store, our tour will introduce you the Goodwill's philosophy of “a hand up, not a hand out.” We will take an exclusive look at everything from operations to mission, hear from members of the Leadership Team and meet Central Texans that have been empowered through our donations. We begin at The Goodwill Community Center where we will learn about education, job training, and the core mission of generating lifelong connections to work. Then we will take a lunch break at the Tech Ridge Center where you will have a choice of restaurants for lunch on your own – Pei Wei, Chili's, Souper Salad, or Carino's Italian. Our final tour is through The Goodwill Resource Center where you will see how your donations are sorted, recycled, and resold.
