Register Today! Wildfire Community Preparedness Day
Submitted by the Sun City Texas Firewise Group
Each year, the Firewise Group, Property & Grounds Committee and the CA sponsor the Annual Wildfire Community Preparedness Day to maintain certain common areas as part of ongoing the Firewise Program. Join your Sun City Texas neighbors on Friday, May 3, for this special day and help make Sun City a safer and cleaner place. We will start at the Social Center Ballroom with registration plus coffee and donuts at 8:30 am. At 9 a.m., a short safety briefing will be held and work assignments given out. Groups will fan out to remove small Ashe junipers (cedar), dead fall, and trash in selected areas near the Social Center.
Closed toe shoes are required. Long pants, gloves, and shirts with long sleeves are highly recommended. Bring your hand-held pruners and limb loppers clearly marked with your name. If you don't have tools, come out and help remove trash! We will work until about 11:30 a.m. and then gather back at the Ballroom for a lunch of brats, hotdogs, chips and beverages as a reward for your service.
To help us plan, Click Here to register online or sign up at the Social Center Monitor Desk.
The Georgetown Fire Department Wildland Crew and their brush truck plan to be with us all morning unless they get a call!
