square dancing and meet members of the
Sundancers Square and Round Dance
Club. And free lessons will be available
the following Monday 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Round Dance Schedule
3 to 4:30 p.m. Lessons (phase 2 two-step)
4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Dance (phase 2 waltz
and two-step, phase 3 cha cha and rumba)
5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Teach and dance (phases
3 and 4 all rhythms)
Dances will be held in the Atrium Sept.
20 and in the Georgetown/Florence rooms
at Cowan Creek on Sept. 27.

The Sun City Table Tennis Club plays
at Cowan Creek Amenity Center in the
Salado Room Friday through Monday
8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The club may also play
Tuesday through Thursday if the Salado
Room is not scheduled for use (check Salado email notification of leagues, tournaments
Room availability with the Cowan Creek
Club monitor or the association website).
Table tennis balls and tables are stored in
the Salado Room’s closet and paddles are
in the cabinet. Please sign the log-in book
on the counter whenever you play. Family
and friends of CA members are welcome
during non-club hours.

Table Tennis is a sport that can be played
at the beginner level (ping pong) or at the
Olympic level. Table tennis exercises your
brain and body, and puts a smile on your
face! Who says exercise can’t be fun? Table
tennis is a low-injury activity that can
be played by men and women of all ages,
including some nonagenarians. There is
a women’s group, a men’s group, mixed
play, singles and doubles. There is an
annual general meeting in November, four
board meetings a year and socials. The
club also offers members, at no additional
cost, beginner and intermediate clinics
and use of a robot for practice. Check the

socials and photos. Yearly dues are $10 a
person. The club is a friendly group where
everyone is supported and encouraged.

Tennis at Sun City is for all skill
levels and all playing schedules. Join
us and let’s play some tennis!
To reserve a court with your friends, use
the daily court schedule posted on the
bulletin board between courts two and
three. But for the most fun, from USTA
competition to attending fun socials, join
some of our many other activities.
Try Open Tennis. It’s doubles with
no partners, no levels and a friendly
coordinator to get you started. Play
Monday and Wednesday evenings or
Friday mornings at times posted on the
court schedule on the bulletin board. Just
show up and have fun!
Use the Tennis Game Finder.
Locate other like-minded (similar skills,
schedules, whatever) tennis players. Sign
up cards are, again, on the bulletin board.
Participate in our tournaments and
social activities. They are awesomely
fun! How, you ask? How else, check the

Association (SCTTA). This is a deal!

The Visual Arts Club 10th Annual
Juried Show and Competition will take
place on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 2-5 p.m.
in the Activities Center. Art will remain
on display and is offered for sale through
Friday, Nov. 20. Other locations in Sun
City with exhibits by our members are
the Social Center, Cowan Creek Amenity
Center and the Visual Arts Studio.
At the September general meeting a demo
will be given by Mary Beth Martin, an
award-winning pastellist and frequent VAC
instructor. Mary Beth will be using pastels
and colored pencils; she will teach both
mediums in separate classes in the fall.
The club welcomes and encourages
experienced artists and beginners. Classes
are offered in the Studio and can be viewed
on the website. Signup is also done on the
website and questions about classes can
be answered by Patricia Williams at 512-
351-2029.
