Painted Churches – Schulenburg - NEW!

Lunch – Oak Ridge Smokehouse
Monday, Oct. 19, $64 pp
Depart SCPL 7:30 a.m.; Return 5 p.m.

                                             Visit some of the iconic
Painted Churches in the Schulenburg (Fayette
County) area. We will stop on our way at
Weikel’s Bakery in La Grange. Upon arriving
at the Chamber of Commerce building in
Schulenburg, our step-on guide will join us. Our guide will have
the keys to the churches and will tell us about the history of the
area and each individual church.

You will be amazed at the sight of these historic architectural
gems nestled in the countryside of the Blackland Prairie of
Central Texas. The churches were built by Czech and German
immigrants, originally in the 1800s, but many have been rebuilt
due to storms. Scheduled on our tour are the churches in High
Hill, Ammansville, Dubina, and Praha. If this itinerary changes
due to a funeral service, our guide will take us to another church
that is available. You may read more about the Painted Churches
at the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce website: www.
SchulenburgChamber.org.

We will enjoy a buffet lunch at Oak Ridge Smokehouse in
Schulenburg, which will include two meat choices, vegetables,
soup, salad, dessert, and coffee or iced tea. On our way home we
will stop at Buc-ee’s in Bastrop.

Ticket cost includes lunch (tax and tip included), fees, and
transportation.
