exhibits galore, plus two buildings full of every model of car
imaginable. The beautiful art-deco Texas Hall of State with its
special exhibit is a must see. Take a ride on the huge Ferris
wheel, ride one of the Midway rides or sit and listen to music
from one of the many stages. And don’t forgot about the food!
The Tower Pavilion boasts food and more food along with outside
vendors, a grand total of 200 food vendors on the grounds.
To keep the cost of this trip down, we will travel on Senior Citizen
Day when our admission is free.
This is an outdoor event, with walking and standing. Wear
comfortable shoes, bring a hat, sunscreen and water. We will
make a stop for refreshments, both going and returning, at
Slovacek’s in West.
Ticket cost includes transportation.

Gospel Brunch – Gruene, TX - NEW!
Sunday, Oct. 11, $62 pp
Depart SCPL 8 a.m.; Return 4 p.m.
Join us for a great Sunday outing to
Gruene, a small Hill Country town with lots
of charm. One of the favorite things to do in
Gruene is to take part in the Sunday Gospel
Brunch, led by Bret Graham, featuring New
Orleans-style gospel music. The music and entertainment lasts
about ninety minutes. Our brunch in Gruene Hall is provided
by the Gristmill Restaurant and features an all-you-can-eat
buffet that includes roasted turkey breast, roast beef, Polish
sausage, pepper bacon, mashed potatoes, migas, scrambled eggs,
French toast, biscuits and fruit. Seating is family style at long
picnic-type tables.
After our food and entertainment, we will have two hours to roam
through the quaint shops of Gruene. Note that walking around
town is over uneven and unpaved walkways, so wear comfortable
shoes. Offered as an option to shopping, music is played in Gruene
Hall (free) at 1 p.m., and dancing is highly encouraged. There
will be no rest stops on the trip to and from Gruene.
Ticket cost includes brunch (tax and tip included) and bus
transportation.

Following the matinee, The Domain is our destination for dinner
on your own. We will make two stops: #1 - Maggiano’s Little
Italy; #2 – Century Oaks Plaza – where you will find a wide
array of upscale and eclectic eateries including California Pizza
Kitchen, Kona Grill, North, and McCormick & Schmick’s. Maps
and menus provided.

Depart SCPL 8:30 a.m.; Return 6:30 p.m.
Gardeners, shoppers and history
buffs will all find something of interest in
beautiful Fredericksburg. Our first stop is Wild
Seed Farms for a leisurely tour of the grounds.
Visit the nursery; check out the award winning
wildflower seeds, garden accessories, specialty foods, and many
other items.
After 90 minutes at the Wild Seed, we will leave for downtown
Fredericksburg for lunch on your own, shopping at the over 150
shops and enjoying the sites. There are many choices for lunch
and comfortable areas for sitting and people watching. There will
be plenty of storage on the bus for your purchases. Please keep
in mind there will be walking as well as several re-boardings
on the bus.
On the way home we will stop for “Pie Happy Hour” at the famous
Blue Bonnet Café in Marble Falls.

past as we go in search of the stories that make
up the Spanish history of Texas.
