Join us Friday, October 3 at 9:15 a.m.
at the Cowan Creek Amphitheater for
the annual Blessing of the Animals. You
and your pet (dog or cat) are invited to
this non-denominational spiritual event,
designed to bring you closer to your pet.
Organizer Judy Worth has put together
a spectacular group of presenters, and
readings, poetry, music and song will be
featured in addition to the Blessing. All
Sun City residents are welcomed and
encouraged to attend.
We will be hosting another Snake Aver-
sion program on Saturday, November 22
at the Legacy Hills Park Pavilion. Harlan
Winters fromWinters Kennels will teach
participating dogs to avoid rattlers and
other dangerous snakes. This event is
open to all dogs in Sun City. More in-
formation will be in the November Sun
Rays.
Dog training classes are each Saturday at
Legacy Park pavilion. The next round of
classes will begin in early January. Con-
tact the Pet Club for more information.
When approaching another person with
their dog, remember to practice proper
leash walking etiquette. Make sure your
own dog is under your control, and close
to your side. If using a retractable leash,
reel your dog in, and do not let the dogs
interact until you have confirmed with
the other owner. Many owners use walks
as training time, and may not want their
dog to break their training commands.
Fall is a great time to get out on the won-
derful Sun City trail system! Just remem-
ber: we share the woods withmany other
animals, so keep a close eye on your pet
while walking the trails. Enjoy!

Recently, nationally-ranked pickleball en-
thusiast Barbara Wintroub paid a visit to
the Pickleball Courts of Sun City Texas.
Barbara, a nationally known active-aging
instructor, conducted classes and offered
many great fitness tips to our Pickleball
Club members, including:
• Use It or Lose It:
To help prevent
muscle loss, try some cardiovascular
exercises like sidestepping along the
baseline several times.
• Get Ready:
A few minutes of singles
hitting can help you loosen up.
