is set in Manhattan, where Elaine Wheeler
is unable to sleep. Her husband, John, hears
Elaine scream that she sees a dead body in
an abandoned tenement building across the
street. The police, Lt. Walker and Officer Vanelli, are called but
find nothing but an empty chair. As her terror grows, she sees
another body, this time a woman. The police are skeptical and
soon dismiss her pleas. Her husband calls in a psychiatrist, Dr.
Lake, who agrees with John’s suggestion that Elaine should go
to a clinic in Switzerland for treatment. Our plot involves an old
friend, Blanche, the maid, Helga, a nosy neighbor, Appleby, and
deli owner SamHoke.
