C
ome and be inspired by fabulous
homes decked out for the holidays!
Five Sun City Texas homes will
be transformed as part of the 13th an-
nual Holiday Home Tour, hosted by the
Kiwanis Club of Sun City Georgetown,
on December 6-8.
The homes will be decorated by six inte-
rior designers, including: Kathryn Neal,
of Kathryn’s Kreations; Wendy Archer, of
Wendy Archer Designs; Judy Blakely, of
Finales; Janet Gillespie, of Janet Marie
Décor; Ann Mills, of Elegant Interiors;
and Karen Cowan, an interior/exterior
design consultant.
Designers will provide ideas for furniture
arrangement, lighting, art, accessories
and remodeling concepts. The biggest
home decorating tip the designers try
to convey is to have fun, especially with
color! According to the designers, themost
effective and easiest way to liven up a
space is through paint and color schemes.
Last year, the big colors were silvers and
blues―even hot pink. According to the
designers, the color trends for 2013 are
a bit more subtle, but chic nonetheless!
• Gray is the new neutral, especially
with undertones of blues, purples and
greens. This is a sophisticated palette
that works great with yellows and golds,
as well as withmost woods and fabrics.
• A fun, lighthearted style incorporates
coral, peach and cantaloupe colors.
These colors also work well with gray.
•Green colors are always a hit, as a reflec-
tion of nature―from the yellow greens
of spring to the darker shades of the fall
foliage. Blue-green teals are also very
popular this year.
The addresses of the decorated homes
will not be published for the sake of the
homeowners; however, addresses will be
printed on the back of purchased tickets.
So buy your tickets now and get ready to
be blown away by beautiful holiday decor!
CLUB MISSION & GOALS
The Holiday Home Tour is the principal
fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Sun
CityGeorgetown, whosemission is to sup-
port children and young adults in Wil-
liamson County and around the world.
In 2012, the tour raised more than
$34,000, which was used to support The
Nest, the Williamson County Children’s
Advocacy Center, five college scholarships
awarded to area high school seniors, and
more. This year, the club hopes to increase
that amount to provide evenmore services
to our community’s youth.
The club also hosts weeklymeetings at 10
a.m. eachTuesday in the Ballroom. Every
meeting features a different guest speaker
from the Georgetown area to speak on
key community issues. For a list of No-
vember’s speakers, see page 142 or visit
