Special Interest Groups

Sun City Photography Club offers the opportunity for its members to participate in Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which focus on specific photographic genre, techniques or tools.  SIG activity is at the core of our club.  SIGs meet on schedules that they each determine with formats designed to maximize enjoyment and educational value to participants.  Our SIGs include:

  • Challenge - an online-only, no-meeting SIG for members to improve their photography through regularly participating in monthly challenges based on a provided theme. (When you first join this SIG, please email Barbara for instructions and the current month's challenge).
  • iPhone Photography – for those who want to take advantage of the capabilities of Apple’s iPhones
  • Outdoor Photography – for members whose particular photographic interests include Nature (landscapes, animals, birds, plants & flowers, planets, etc)
  • Photo Discussion – for members who want constructive criticism on images they eventually plan to submit to photographic competitions
  • Photo Traveler - for those members who want to explore and improve their skills in expressing the uniqueness of places and cultures in their photographs.
  • PSA Digital – for members who would like their photos chosen to represent the club in the Photographic Society of America’s (PSA) Projected Image Division Interclub Competition
  • PSA Print – for members who would like their printed photos chosen to represent the club in PSA’s Print Division Interclub Competition
  • Street Photography - for members who are interested in taking pictures in public places

Each of our SIGs has a web page that provides specific information regarding participation.  Club members join SIGs via the My Memberships link on the CA website.  SIG events are included on the club’s Calendar.  Click on the SIG links above for SIG-specific information.
