Small Group Tour (30) on Clark Mini-Coach
Ticket purchase deadline: Friday, Oct. 21
Travel along the Historic Texas
Fort Trail and explore military history that
has earned San Antonio the nickname, Military
City USA.
Known as The Quadrangle and built in 1876, Fort Sam Houston
supplied the western forts and served as a depot for troops on
the Rio Grande frontier. Today it houses a museum that tells the
story of a fort interwoven into the history of the town that grew
up around it. The story includes notable leaders and notorious
outlaws such as Geronimo, the legendary Apache chief who was a
prisoner at Fort Sam. Theodore Roosevelt and the Rough Riders
trained here, military aviation began with a Wright Flyer just
outside the walls, and General Pershing led troops from The
Quadrangle in pursuit of Pancho Villa. Tour the exhibits from
The Battle of the Alamo to Middle East conflicts; then take a
driving tour of the base with our museum docent.
Lunch will be on your own at the Pearl Brewery Complex which
features trendy restaurants and one of a kind shops.
Veterans Memorial Plaza is our final stop. The Plaza encompasses
amazing bigger-than-life bronze memorials from WWI through
the Vietnam War and a Medal of Honor River Portal.
NOTE: Fort Sam Houston requires your full name, birth
date, address, and Texas Driver’s License # to enter the
base. Submit to [email protected] no later than
October 21.
