Joel and Gail Coffman
154 Whispering Wind, N3
Joel and Gail Coffman have also been
in Sun City Texas for 18 years. As some
of Sun City’s first “pioneers,” they made
it a point to call on new residents who
were arriving almost daily. Gail tried
to settle in Arizona to be close to her
daughter, but Texas was calling this Na-
tive Texan home, and Del Webb’s voice,
added to that, brought the Coffmans to
Sun City Texas. They were relatively
young when they moved in, but here it is
almost 20 years later, and, as Gail says,
time marches on. Joel and Gail love life
in Sun City Texas and wouldn’t want
to live anywhere else. Gail said she was
surprised by the ages of that first wave
of buyers, as some were in their late 70s
and early 80s, but living in Sun City is
what keeps us young and active, so it’s
a great place to live!
up all around them, and soon it was a
real neighborhood, with neighbors help-
ing neighbors and looking out for one
another—much as it is today! Before
moving to Sun City Texas, Jim and Elsie
sold their home, bought an RV, and were
full-time RVers for two years and loved
it. But once they saw Sun City Texas,
they gave up their life on the open road
in a hurry. They have been married 69
years, and though they don’t get out as
much as they used to, they still love Sun
City Texas, and couldn’t imagine living
anywhere else.
