Breathe. Relax. Exhale.
Sounds easy enough—but it can take
practice to ease themind, find one’s center,
and just let go. One practice that can yield
such results is yoga. Sun City Texas
offers multiple yoga classes, including
Integral Yoga, a 60-minute course every
Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Texas Drive
Fitness Center. This course features
various postures to enhance strength
and flexibility, improve breathing, and
align the body and mind—for beginners
and yogis alike!
Much of the course aims to achieve balance
and better posture, strengthen the body,
and reduce stress. Participants gather on
yogamats, in a semi-darkened classroom,
and practice in unison postures designed
for all levels of yoga practitioners.
The practice of yoga has gained popularity
all over the world as a way to transform
the body and mind through physical and
mental exercises. In fact, according to the
Yoga Journal’s “Yoga in America” 2012
Market Study, more than 20 million
Americans practice yoga, withmotivation
ranging from overall improved health to
stress relief.
As we age, it becomes increasingly
important to stay active—both mentally
and physically. Yoga offers an opportunity
to do both, with a plethora of other
benefits. It all starts with three simple
directives: Breathe. Relax. Exhale.
