Let’s Communicate!
Jim Romine, Executive Director
I
t is hard to believe that July is already
here and, quite honestly, we have had
a crazier than normal year thus far. I
will take this opportunity to address a few
matters that we are dealingwith currently
in Sun City Texas and wish everyone a
happy summer and 4th of July!
Welcome to our NewBoardMembers:
First, I would like to take this opportu-
nity to thank Dennis Walter and Kim
Moran for their time on the Board of Direc-
tors. Serving on our CA Board is a huge
commitment of time and energy, and both
Dennis and Kim should be applauded for
their willingness to serve this great com-
munity and for their time on the Board.
I would also like to welcome our newest
resident Board members Bob Glandt and
Gary Sandercock. Both of these gentlemen
have served this community on various
committees and will serve us well in their
new role as Board members. Welcome!
BuffaloGrass Conversion:
By the time
this article is published, the first phase of
our buffalo grass conversion to Bermuda
grass should be growing in well (fingers
crossed!) and looking good. As previously
reported, we are moving away from this
turf type because we no longer have access
to the proper chemicals to treat the weeds
in the buffalo grass and, as a result, this
grass is being taken over by weeds. Over
the next few years, we will convert other
areas from buffalo to Bermuda grass and
give all of our landscaped areas some up-
grades for appearance, and to be better
stewards of our precious water resource.
Putters Café:
About the time you receive
this publication of the
Sun Rays
, our patio
enhancement project should be complete—
as should our first phase of the soundmiti-
gation panels. We appreciate everyone’s
support of Putters Café and, for those who
have yet to check it out, please do not wait
any longer! Darren, Cecy and their team
are doing a great job and we need to give
themour full support. Since opening, they
have amended their menu to incorporate
suggestions from the community and offer
a great selection of dining choices. They
have met again with their focus group of
residents and are working suggestions
into their management plan. Personally,
I have enjoyed all of my meals at Putters
and appreciate all they are doing to meet
the dining needs of our community.
Welcome Michelle Mason, our new
Fitness Director!
Michelle joined our
staff in June to head our fitness operations,
and replaced Caroline Rosenbaum, who
left us at the end of May. I am confident
that Michelle will continue to provide the
first-class operation that all of you have
come to expect and enjoy. Please stop by
and meet Michelle, if you have not done
so already, and welcome her to the team!
White Wing Greens:
While our greens
at White Wing and a few at Legacy Hills
suffered from a variety of problems this
spring, I am hopeful that by the time you
read this article, they will be back to the
condition our community expects and de-
serves. We take our residents’ satisfaction
very seriously, whether they are on the golf
courses or fitness centers, and we will do
everything in our power to avoid problems
such as these in the future. Thank you for
your patience, support and understanding
while we nursed the greens back to health.
In closing, I would like to thank the resi-
dents for their support of our staff over the
first half of 2014. While some of the issues
we faced are out of our control, we do our
best to mitigate all unforeseen problems
so as to ensure your overall satisfaction
with your community and lifestyle here
in Sun City Texas. Have a great and safe
summer—and, remember, enjoy life!
Take care, Jim
