Safety Tips
If you’re planning to be on the
green this summer or outside
in general, it’s important to re-
member to protect yourself in
the hot Central Texas condi-
tions. Keep these tips in mind
when you’re planning to play
outside:
• Select a sunscreen that pro-
tects you from both UV-A
and UV-B rays that has a Sun
Protection Factor (SPF) of
at least 30
• Apply sunscreen liberally
and often—skin can take up
to 30minutes to absorb sun-
screen, so be sure to apply
it about 30 minutes before
going outside. Once you’re
outdoors, reapply sunscreen
every two hours.
• Wear sun-protective cloth-
ing: Sunglasses with UV pro-
tection, wide-brim hats, UPF
clothing, or tightly woven,
dark-colored fabrics that
cover your skin.
• Make a travel-size sun-
safety kit. Create a kit that
can hold sunscreen, lip balm,
sunglasses, a hat, and a
long-sleeved, light-weight
shirt—keep your kit in your
car and on your golf cart.
• Stay hydrated! Keep water
with you at all times, espe-
cially when you’re out for
long periods in the sun.
