“Chelsea” is the online system in Sun
City Texas for requesting and processing
tee times for our three golf courses. Oc-
casionally, questions arise about how this
system actually processes our requests
and determines the tee times for each
day’s play. Below is a description of how
Chelsea determines tee time requests
with appropriate priorities.
How Chelsea Works
The Chelsea Tee Time system is designed
to provide an equitable distribution for all
tee time requests. There are a few steps
taken to ensure that equitable distribu-
tion is taking place.
• Step 1:
All requests are randomly as-
signed a number between 0 and 66,000
• Step 2:
All requests are separated
into two categories:
1. “Request Category 1” is comprised
of residents without guests
2. “Request Category 2” is comprised
of residents with guests
Each Request in Category 1 is given a
tee time before the placement of Cate-
gory 2 begins. If there is a request with
three linked groups and one of those
groups has a guest, all three groups
are placed in Request Category 2.
• Step 3:
“Request Category 1” is placed
according to the randomly assigned
number given in Step 1. The program
begins with the lowest number first
and proceeds in that fashion, low to
high, until all requests in Category
1 are placed.
• Step 4:
“Request Category 2” is placed
in the same fashion as Category 1.
Benefits
One of the uniquely beneficial aspects of
the Chelsea Tee Time system is that it
never turns away a request. If a resident
creates a request, they will receive a tee
time at one of the three courses. If you are
a resident who plays golf and you are not
in the Chelsea Tee Time system, please
feel free to visit one of the Golf Shops to
receive access and begin utilizing this
effective software. You can view a user’s
guide to the Chelsea system by visiting
the Sun City Texas website:

Index on the top right of the page
• Under Golf, click “Chelsea Guide”
Note:
The new Sun City Texas website,
coming later this year, will not have any
effect on the current Chelsea tee time
assignment procedure.

Attendance was a sellout at the
Spring Member/Member and
our President’s Cup tournament
looks like it will be a sellout as
well. With such resounding enthu-
siasm from our membership, we
are really looking forward to our
fall tournaments.
All of our tournaments benefit
from the support of our sponsors.
These businesses help us 1) keep
our entry fees lower; 2) provide you
with better meals; 3) return more
of your entry fee as sweeps pay-
outs; and 4) purchase better tee
gifts. Please be sure you support
our generous sponsors by award-
ing them your business whenever
possible.
Our next event will be a one-day
Red Ball mini-tournament in
conjunction with our quarterly
meeting on Wednesday, July 2.
Remember that you must sign up
individually for both events—the
Red Ball tournament and the
quarterly meeting.
Which type of golfer
are you?
We have identified three (3) types
of golfers here in Sun City. The
first type is the problem golfer,
since they can’t be bothered to
fill their divots or repair their
ball marks. The second type is
the status quo golfer, who repairs
their damages as they go. The
third type is the solution golfer,
who repairs their damage, as well
as those left by problem golfers.
Which type of golfer are you?
Hit ’em quick! Everyone behind
you will appreciate it and enjoy
the game more.
There is a set of rules for playing golf
here in Sun City Texas, and they are
meant to make playing golf as much fun
and as safe as possible. The entire Golf
staff is charged with ensuring that the
rules are being followed. Unfortunately,
staff cannot be everywhere all the time,
leaving golfers open to bend or break the
rules. In these instances, we ask that fel-
low residents and resident golfers inform
staff when they see a rules violation so
that we can address it—think of hav-
ing a couple hundred additional pairs
of eyes helping keep watch! Remember,
golf is a game where golfers often police
themselves, too!
