Let’s Communicate!
Jim Romine, Executive Director
B
y now, many of you may
have seen and enjoyed the
new lifestyle posters that
were created to show off our vi-
brant lifestyle here in Sun City
Texas. I would like to thank all of
the clubs who have participated in
this project, as well as Wes Odell,
the photographer and overall project
facilitator. These posters are now
hung throughout our facilities and
have created a lot of positive buzz
throughout the community. I have
received many wonderful comments
from residents and their guests
about these photos and continue to
see folks gazing at them when in
the facilities. It is fun to see people
enjoying these lifestyle photographs,
especially those who are in them or
a member of that club.
The CA engaged photographer
Wes Odell to work with clubs that
wanted to participate and saw this
opportunity as a wonderful way to
show off the club and welcome po-
tential members. We first invited all
of the clubs to meet and discuss this
program and encouraged them to
participate. Once the club agreed to
participate, they worked with Wes
on everything from planning to tak-
ing the photos, to layout, printing,
framing and, ultimately, hanging
the photos. The process was well
supported by the members of the
clubs, and I would like to thank all
of them for their support. To be fair
in the placement of these photos,
we will rotate them approximately
every four months, with the next
rotation being in August.
If you haven’t yet seen all 28 post-
ers, take some time to find them
and see what we’ve been doing this
past year to promote Sun City Texas
and the wonderful lifestyle that has
made us the best Active Adult re-
tirement community in the U.S.
I would be remiss if I did not take
this opportunity to thank the Pho-
tography Club and Visual Arts Club
for sharing their art in our build-
ings, as well. We have been blessed
for many years to have these clubs
present the work of their members
for all to enjoy. This year, the Visual
Arts Club has begun showing some
of their larger artwork in the lobby
area at Cowan Creek. These art-
ists are very talented and we are
fortunate to display their work in
our buildings. Kudos to them and
all of their artists.
As our community grows, we want
to continue to show off our lifestyle
as we have done with this project. If
you have ideas on how we can con-
tinue this effort, please let me know.
Take care,
Jim

How to avoid being a victim of this
scam:
Always make sure you know to
whom you are talking before giving out
any information. Take the time to ask
questions to which your family member
would know the answers. If you have any
doubt, get their phone number and fol-
low up with other family members (the
grandchild’s parents) to make sure you
are not being scammed!
EMAIL/PHISHING SCAMS
Seniors receive email messages that ap-
pear to be from a legitimate company or
institution, asking them to “update” or
“verify” their personal information. Some
seniors who may not be computer savvy
will click on the links and provide their
personal information.
How to avoid being a victim of this
scam:
You can purchase software (it
usually comes bundled with anti-virus
software) that will detect websites that
are “phishing” for information. If you
get an email wanting you to update your
information, it is best to contact the com-
pany by phone using the customer service
number in the company’s billing or on
your credit card.
The above list is just a few of the many
scams that con artists use to steal your
money and identity. Keep your money and
personal information closely guarded. Do
not give out your personal information
unless you initiate contact and you are
sure you know to whom you are commu-
nicating. If you do this, you will greatly
reduce your odds of being a victim of
fraud.
