Sun City has 13 Advisory Committees that provide the Board of
Directors with resources and information on issues that relate
to the operation of the Community Association. Each Committee
has a Community Association staff member as liaison between
the Association and the Committee to provide assistance and
resources.
Committees often interact with one another, providing infor-
mation and research that cross over into another Committee’s
responsibility. For example, the Sports Committee may send
a proposal to the Property & Grounds Committee. The P&G
Committee researches the issue and, if it is approved and re-
quires funding, forwards their recommendation to the Finance
Committee. The Finance Committee studies this request in a
variety of areas: Does it require bids and, if so, has that require-
ment been met? Is it an insurance/liability issue, reserves, etc.,
and, if approved, what is the source of funding? This example
is one of the ways the Committees interact to ensure that the
Association’s goals are met and conform to operational practices.
Who are the committee members who provide the advice and
expertise to the Board? Committee members are residents who
apply for a position on the committee of interest. The Nominating
Committee interviews each applicant to identify the experience,
areas of expertise and interest of each applicant who is volun-
teering to serve the Sun City Texas Community Association.
The Nominating Committee forwards its recommendations to
the Board of Directors for adoption.
For more than six years, I have worked with committees and
subcommittees in Sun City. This experience has been positive,
informative and valuable to me as a member of the Board. The
knowledge I gained has been invaluable inmaking decisions that
protect our community and ensures continued quality lifestyle
and standards of success for Sun City.
So, my question to the readers is this: Will you consider working
on one of our committees to share your expertise, experience
and interest with the Sun City Texas Community Association?
I think you will find the work of our committees interesting,
stimulating, worthwhile and rewarding. The advice of our com-
mittees is important to the overall operations of our community.
Please consider attending committee meetings to learn more
and determine where you may share your interests and exper-
tise. I hope to see your name on the recommendations from the
Nominating Committee.
