Club History

The year 2023

We saw good membership growth in 2023 as we started the year with 130 members and ended with 147.  Records indicate this was largely by word of mouth from satisfied members.  The four dinners we hosted for the athletic teams were all well attended.   Eighty-five persons attended the Baseball/Softball dinner, ninety-six were at the Football dinner, sixty-four at the Volleyball dinner, and ninety-three persons attended the Girls/Boys Basketball dinner.  Our members party at Mas Fajitas had 35 members and 7 guests.  The 44th annual Jack Frost Tournament was again a big success with 32 teams from across the state seeing action.  Many compliments from the participants were given to those responsible for putting on the event — including the Eagle Boosters who had volunteered to help.   Newly elected/re-elected board members taking office on January 1, 2024 were: President - Hugh Johns, Immediate Past-President - Dick Lenning, Vice President - Cathy Brickner, Secretary - Dolly Fugitt, Treasurer & Membership - Jay Livaudais, Social Directors - Larry and Janis Tonn,  Promotions - Karen Chapman,  Football Activity Director - Dave Prybellla, Volleyball Activity - Debbie and Jim Wiltijer,  Girls Basketball - Stan Rubin, Boys Basketball - Hugh Johns, Softball - Dany Ballard, Baseball - Debe and Ken Wantzloeben, Jack Frost - Evelyn Coelho.

Welcome to the 2022 Sun Eagle Boosters
After living with the impact of the Covid-19, we are proud to tell you that the Club is functioning just like in prior years.  All of our officers and director positions have been filled with hard working personnel.  The Club decided to add pizza parties.  We tried a new social event, the spring pizza party.  It was very well attended.  Because of this success, we decided to have another pizza party in December.  Attendance grew over the earlier pizza party.  They have been successful.  Once again , we supported the Jack Frost Tournament.  All the time slots were filled by our Sun City Boosters.  Our student athletes and parents appreciate our effort.  We enjoy watching the games. The end of the year officers were President - Dick Lenning, Vice President - Ken Wantzloeben, Secretary - Dolly Fugitt, Treasurer & Membership - Jay Livaudais, Social Debbie Keele, Promotions - Dick & Kathy Lenning.Sports Activity Directors Football Activity - Dave Prybellla, Volleyball Activity - Kelly and Bob Crowellll, Debbie and Jim Wiltijer,  Girls Basktball - Stan Rubin, Boys Basketball - Hugh Johns, Softball - Dany Ballard, Baseball - Debe and Ken Wantzloeben, Jack Frost - Evelyn Coelho.

January 1, 2021 -  Being updated as events unfold.
On January 1 COVID-19 was still rearing up its ugly head. However, vaccines were developed in early 2021 that worked against the virus. By the end of March the numbers of hospitalizations and deaths started to decrease. By June 1 all of Sun City activities were reinstated. People that received the shots were able to stop wearing their masks and social distancing restrictions were lifted. As stated in 2020 Membership reelected all current officers for 2021. Larry Plyter as President, Tony Coelho as Vice President, Dolly Fugitt as Secretary, Debbie Keele as Social Director, Jay Livaudais as Treasurer and Membership Director and Dick and Kathy Lenning as Promotion Directors. Jim Chapman stayed on the Board as Past President. Kay Wyckoff agreed to stay another year Volleyball Director, Karen Chapman resigned in June as Girls Basketball Director, Dave Prybella agreed to another year as Football Activity Director, Evelyn Coelho resigned in March as Softball Activity Director and R.G. Wyckoff had already resigned in December 2020 as Boys Basketball Activity Director. Dick Lenning will continue as Communications.  However, as the year moved forward a new strain of COVID showed up and cases started up again with younger ages 18-50. Masks were optional, but people started to wear them again. Football and Volleyball started on schedule. All football tickets had to be purchased online and were general admission. Volleyball was the same except that Eagle Boosters could get into the games by showing their Gold Card. Football Kickoff and Volleyball Slam annual events were cancelled. Stay tuned.............

It shut down all activities in Sun City. The last Board meeting of the Sun City Eagle Boosters was on February 20 and the last social event was the Softball Batter-up on March 8. The UIL shut down all sports the rest of the year. The membership did vote by email to extend the current Board members into 2021 and the Board approved the membership renewal fees for all current members to be waived in 2021. It turned out to be a year where people had to stay in their homes isolated from friends and family.
