Cars, Golf Carts, Bicycles…Oh My!

Submitted by the Georgetown Police Department

With the growth of our beloved Sun City, we are seeing more traffic on our beautiful roadways with all types of vehicles. For ALL types of vehicles, it is important to adhere to the laws of the roads to include driving no faster than the speed limit, stop fully at stop signs, signaling lane changes and/or turns, etc. By following the rules of the road, you become a predictable driver which keeps everyone safer on the roads.

Be extra vigilant at intersections as these points are where all types of vehicles meet, as well as pedestrians crossing roadways. Minimize distractions in your vehicle, golf cart or bicycle to keep you alert and aware of your surroundings. SHARE THE ROAD, be PATIENT and be KIND! We all make mistakes from time to time but if we all do our part, our roads will be safer for EVERYONE.

Be sure to let your friends and family know that Sun City has motor vehicles, golf carts and bicycles utilizing the roads and the importance of safe driving habits.

Friendly Reminder: Parking

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

Here are a few friendly reminders when parking in one of our parking lots:

1. Please do not park in the handicap parking spaces unless permitted to do so.

2. When parking a golf cart, please remember two per space. The cart on the left should go all the way up to the tire stop and the cart on the right staggered back to allow easy entry and exit for both.

3. With the demand for parking, please try to keep your auto to one space only.

4. For additional information concerning driving, parking and the Texas Golf Cart Laws, please refer to page 19 of the SCT Resource Guide and Directory.

Call for submissions - Sun Rays

Due to space limitations, we respectfully ask that submissions be limited to 300 words or less. Photographs STRONGLY encouraged. If you have any questions or require assistance with photography, please contact Britt James at 512-948-7732
