The 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in the United States and touched off a conflict that still rages today. At age 27, Austin attorney Sarah Weddington became the youngest attorney to win a Supreme Court case. The case centered around Norma McCorvey ("Roe") who was unable to get an abortion in Texas. In 1970, Ms. Weddington filed suit in Texas on behalf of Roe challenging the law for all women. The Supreme Court heard the case in 1971 and 1972, ruling in favor of Roe in 1973.
