Salado Remote Ride (Johnny's BBQ)

REMOTE RIDE:  Wednesday September 14th at 8:00 a.m.

ROUTE:  SALADO from Johnny's BBQ going WEST/NORTH/EAST to HOLLAND then south loop back thru SALADO back to Johnny's.

Designated Parking: Go past/west of Johnny's Restaurant/canteen @ 301 Thomas Arnold Road & before the "Dog Spot"; turn left at the road that goes behind Johnny's to their 'outback' parking lot.

DESCRIPTION: Flat, then hilly to rolling with beautiful farm land. Flat terrain after Holland to Salado with some hills past the Shed on Royal and thru main drag back to Johnny's BBQ.

ROUTES: Two routes – 45 & 52 miles

Start/finish at JOHNNY'S BBQ:

  • 52 mile route: 100% pavement & 1,783 ft. Elevation - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40841067
    52 mile route leaves Johnny's heading west, then north and back over I-35 to rolling hills and farmland. The 52 milers splits off at Armstrong (Mile 12.6) and heads north picking up 7 extra miles plus good elevation challenges.  Holland Quick Trip stop at 30.2 miles. Flatter terrain after Holland to outskirts of Salado, then some ups and downs on Royal, thru Salado and back to Johnny's.
  • 45 mile route: 100% pavement & 1,565 ft. Elevation - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38765155
    Starts with 52 milers until splitting off at Armstrong (Mile 12.6) and heading east.  Holland Quick Trip stop at 23.2 miles. Flatter terrain after Holland to outskirts of Salado, then some ups and downs on Royal, thru Salado and back to Johnny's.

  • 38 mile route: 100% pavement & 1,348 ft. Elevation - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40864104 Starts with 52 and 45 milers and splitting off with 45 milers at Armstrong (Mile 12.6) and heading east.   Holland Quick Trip stop at 23.2 miles.  Flatter terrain after Holland with tighter loop back to outskirts of Salado, then some ups and downs on Royal thru Salado and back to Johnny's.
