This film won both the BAFTA Award, the Academy Award for Best Picture and also the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Movie. It tells the true story of two British runners who brought glory to their country in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. One athlete, the son of missionaries in China, sees running as part of worship and his beliefs. The other athlete, who is the son of Lithuanian immigrants, overcomes class bias and prejudice, but neglects his sweetheart while following his quest. |
