UT Director of Jazz Studies, Jeff Hellmer, takes the stage with the Jazz Orchestra playing a repertoire of some best-loved pieces. At this time, the repertoire has not been announced, however, it always includes Big Band pieces, and Latin music with a splash of Calypso. As part of the annual Longhorn Jazz Festival, this orchestra has performed with many well-known jazz guests and also toured Europe in the summer of 2017. Its recently completed work "In the Thick of It" is described by The Jazz Times as "stunning". Our general admission tickets for the performance allow you to choose your seats in the 700-seat Bates Hall. Before the concert, we'll stop at the Domain for dinner on your own. Your choices include Grand Lux Café, North Italia, Cru and California Pizza Kitchen. Maps and suggestions will be provided. Ticket includes transportation and concert ticket.
