Set in 19th century France, this epic musical taken from the 1862 historical novel by Victor Hugo, tells the story of Jean Valjean, a man wrongly imprisoned, and Fantine and Cosette, a poor mother and her daughter. Valjean becomes a champion of good but is unable to escape his past. Full of love, passion, dreams and songs such as "I Dreamed a Dream" and "On My Own," along with spectacular costumes and sets, this musical is a favorite. The 2012 movie version was nominated for 8 Oscars and won three awards including Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway portraying Fantine.
