Our tour of homes begins in the heart of downtown Austin at the new Central Library. More than a house of books, this architectural masterpiece captures the creative spirit of Austin from its floating staircases to its rooftop garden. Next stop is lunch on your own at the Downtown Diners. Maps and menu ideas provided. Following lunch, self-guided tours: The Susanna Dickinson House – a rubble-rock style home built for the ‘Messenger of the Alamo’; an Eastlake-style cottage, former residence of short story master William Sidney Porter, better known as O'Henry; and our final home, Chateau Bellevue is a stylish castle built for romance and elegance and features French Romanesque arches, beautiful courtyard grounds, ornate hand-carved woodwork and stunning stained glass windows.
