This epic Chinese production, with graceful dancers in authentic costumes such as court dancers, soldiers, and folk peasants, along with breathtaking backdrops, tells the story of their culture and ancient legends in 20 vignettes. With a cast of 80 dancers, they perform leaps and acrobats as well as dances using colorful handkerchiefs, drums, fans and chopsticks accompanied by their own orchestra. Each year the company creates a new and original production, performing in 130 cities around the world for seven months. All of this began in 2006, when a group of Chinese artists met in New York to revive traditional culture and share it with the world, something they are unable to do in China today. After the 1 p.m. matinee, we will head to Domain for an early dinner on your own and/or shopping. Drop off and pick up will be close to Kona Grill. At Kona, you can continue our Chinese event by having some of their wonderful sushi, made to order. Other choices are North, Grand Lux, Cake Ball, California Pizza and Gloria’s. Maps and suggestions will be provided.
