Trail boss Thornton Chisholm, a handful of cowboys, and 1800 rangy Texas Longhorns headed north from Cardwell Flats on April 1, 1866.  A seven month journey took them along what became one of the most storied names in the West, the Chisholm Trail.  Explore the stories of cowboys and cattle queens, gunslingers, and gamblers along the trail from Waco to Ft Worth – Where the West Begins.

Tuesday – Our adventure begins with a look at Texas, The Big Picture dvd and a stop at the historic Chisholm Trail Bridge in Waco.  We will cross the Brazos River and explore Texas from the civil war to the cattle trails. We will tour the Gone with the Wind museum in Cleburne and the Texas Civil War museum in Ft. Worth. Afterwards we check into the Hampton Inn I-30 West in Fort Worth for our two night stay. Lunch and dinner will be on your own today with a variety of restaurant choices.  Apple ‘hand pie’ snack, juice and bottled water included today.

Wednesday – Following breakfast (included) we will take a guided walking tour of The Stockyards National Historic District with its historic structures and epic tales of cattle drives and rugged trail hands that trampled their tracks more than a century ago.  We will tour the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and check out the Ft. Worth longhorn herd as they make their drive down Exchange Ave.  Lunch is on your own and BBQ is king; choose from Billy Bob's, Cooper’s or Riscky's, all world famous.  The National Cowgirl Hall of Fame will be our final tour before heading back to our hotel.  Dinner will be on your own at Sundance Square in downtown Ft. Worth.  Maps, menus, and stories provided.

Thursday – This morning we will take a walk through the Ft. Worth Water Gardens.  Once known as Hell's Half Acre, visit the Tandy Leather Museum, and tour the historic cattle baron mansion Thistle Hill.  Lunch will be in the quaint town of Burleson with its choice of restaurants like Babe’s Chicken and Grumpy's Burgers.  Following lunch we will saddle up, get our final cowboy on, and run a wild Texas Critter race as we head for the barn.  It's the end of the trail.  Breakfast, snack, bottled water included today

Ticket cost includes transportation, 2 hotel nights with breakfast, 2 snacks, bottled water, and tour fees.  For an expanded itinerary e-mail  [email protected]
