SOLD OUT - Chinese New Year Feast & Market Tour – Austin Lunch – First Chinese BBQ Thursday, Jan. 26, $68 pp Depart SCPL 10:45 a.m.; return 3:45 p.m. Tickets for this event go on sale on Tuesday, November 1 @ 8 a.m. Celebrate the Chinese New Year with Dorothy Huang, Chinese cooking expert and author of Chinese Cuisine Made Simple. Dorothy has arranged a ten course feast of delectable dishes for us to share at First Chinese BBQ Restaurant as well as a walking tour of the MT Asian Supermarket. Lunch begins with pots of hot tea and crisp spring rolls with dipping sauce. Wonton soup follows, along with Chinese bbq pork, stir-fried lo mein noodles with vegetables, sliced Peking duck tucked into a steamed bun, General Tso's chicken, shrimp with snow peas, cod with black bean sauce, stir-fried beef with broccoli, shredded pork with garlic sauce. The meal ends with your fortune, wrapped in a cookie. Dorothy will join each table to answer questions about how the dishes are prepared and the ingredients used. Following lunch, we will make a quick stop at the bakery for a taste treat and then walk one block to the MT Asian Supermarket where Dorothy will take the mystery out of the market's products. Bring your shopping bags, a cooler for perishable items, and your appetite. It is sure to be a fun, informative and delicious celebration of the Chinese New Year, the year of the Rooster!
