Spring & Fall Plant Sales

The Horticulture Club usually holds two Plant Sales per year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Both are major fundraisers for the Club, allowing us to continue to make the Sun City Gardens a wonderful place to pursue organic gardening.

The sale dates for this year are:
  • Saturday, April 6, from 9 AM to 1 PM
  • Fall plant sale this year - TBD

We will provide the best plants that thrive in Central Texas - we will not stock a plant we would not be willing to plant in our own garden.  We get many of our perennials from local wholesale growers, selecting only the best specimens we can find.  Our focus is on Texas Native and Adapted plants, and we will not sell invasive plants.  Click HERE to see a list of plants we expect to have at this year's sale.

Vegetables, herbs and annuals are grown in the large greenhouse at the Gardens and are usually available several weeks before the actual sale date.  We also have Tall Bearded Iris grown in our Gardens for sale all year long.

Year-Round Sales

  • Plants. The Nursery has a once-a-month sale on the first Saturday in May, June, September, October and November.  This is in addition to the Horticulture Plant Sale occurring once a year, usually in April.  The Nursery features rescued plants, house plants, and plants grown from seed/cuttings.  Many are Native Plants. All are at substantially reduced prices to help the community enjoy more of the beauty of plants, particularly Native Plants.  If you have plants, yard art in good shape or plastic pots to donate, please leave outside Gate 2, 141 Sun City Blvd, Sun City Horticulture Gardens. Cash or checks only. All proceeds benefit the Sun City Horticulture Club.
  • Iris. We have over 50 varieties of Tall Bearded Iris in our propagation inventory, and about 20 varieties potted and ready for sale. Iris are evergreen, low water and deer resistant, and will give you many years of color blooms in spring to early summer
  • Compost Tea. Usually brewed the first Saturday of the month (weather permitting) - $3.00 per gallon; dilute 5:1 (makes 6 gallons). Since Compost Tea is composed of living organisms, it should be used within 24 hours. We brew compost tea from worm castings, except when the weather is too hot (over 90 deg.) or too cold (40 or below), in which case it may be available the following Saturday.
