Walking or Running
If you are one of the many walkers or runners in Sun City Texas please make sure you are visible when out at night or in the twilight of morning and evening. Here are some safety tips:
  • Wear bright colors or reflective clothing. A simple white t-shirt might save your life!
  • Consider purchasing a runner’s safety light and/or vest (and a head lamp will ensure that you avoid obstacles).
  • Make sure you can be seen from the front and back.
  • NEVER assume that a car sees you when crossing the street.
  • DON’T wear headphones. You must be able to hear a car approach.
  • Run or walk on the left side of the road (or against traffic), so that you see approaching vehicles. Please Note: By law, pedestrians are required to use the sidewalk when one is available.
  • Be aware of distracted drivers and possible limited visibility due to weather, landscaping, parked cars or other traffic.
  • Explore Our Trails! We encourage you to run or walk on one of our many off-street trails whenever possible. Click Here for maps and information.
Let’s be safe!

Native Area Mowing Update
Submitted by Carlton Mathis, Common Area & Irrigation Superintendent,

We are gradually regaining lost ground due the recent rains. Your patience is appreciated. Although the majority of this process can be handled by our mowers, there are some areas which are less accommodating, and will need to be handled with line trimmers. The line trimmers can be up to two weeks behind the mowers. All cuttings will be left where they fall. This is a Firewise exercise only, and not for aesthetics, or any other purpose.
