Seeking volunteer trip leaders
Are you interested in being a Volunteer
Trip Leader? Do you enjoy planning fun
outings? Do you have a great interest in
sports, theatre, museums, shopping or
history? If leading, planning, contracts,
spreadsheets, budgets, writing articles,
and being a team player are your passion,
please contact Jenny Phillips for an interview. This is a great
group to be a part of, but it does take time and patience to
prepare all details and lead a successful trip.
Please know that one of the primary requirements is that
each volunteer plans and leads at least six trips a year.
Trip leaders are also required to attend and participate in
a monthly team meeting. If you have time constraints or a

Sun City Live! returns with their second annual
4th of July and summertime holiday show.
Last year’s show sold out quickly, so do not
wait to purchase your tickets for this exciting, CC Georgetown Room, FREE
all new event. We will begin with entertainment
by our local band, “Kountry Kombo.” You will enjoy a patriotic
parade, singers and dancers, comedians and a special tribute
to our veterans.
Bring your friends and begin the celebration of summer and the
4th of July. Drinks and snacks will be provided or bring your
own to share! Doors open at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are available at

“American Pride”
Sun City Singers concert
Monday, July 3, 11 a.m., SCB, $10 pp
The Sun City Singers will offer a salute to the
Founding Fathers and all things American
with its annual patriotic concert set for July 3
at 11 a.m. in the Social Center Ballroom.
Tickets are on sale in the Member Services
Office and online at www.sctexas.org. The concert will feature
a selection of all-time favorites for the holiday including God
Bless America, America the Beautiful, Battle Hymn of the
Republic and the Star-Spangled Banner. Singers also will
perform the Woody Guthrie classic This Land is Your Land,
and I am America, written by former Singers director Dick
Anderson and R.G. Wyekoff. The concert also will debut We the
People, written by Sun City’s own Carlie Burdett. We also will

heavy work load, this volunteer opportunity may not be a
good fit for you. The required interview with potential vol-
unteers includes discussion and discernment about working
well with our current group.
The top three personality traits required are as follows:
– Organization and office skills (detail-oriented, computer
literate, willingness to persevere).
– Personal skills (self-starter, creativity, ability to take
charge, flexibility, willingness and ability to trouble-shoot
and handle problems).
– People skills (positive attitude, communication skills,
recognition of what people expect from us, sensitivity).

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Self
Defense Academy / Georgetown Police
Department are providing a free self-defense
seminar for the citizens of the Sun City
Community. This is a 2-hour class and will
cover safety awareness and defensive tactics. Instructors will
be Deputy Brandon Schaefer and Officer Shane Rogers.
Dress is relaxed casual/tennis/athletic shoes.
Performance – Kristen Gibbs, Harpist
Wednesday, July 19, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., SCB, $10 pp
Reserved seating by table
Changing the traditional barriers of the classical
harp world, Kristen is one of the few harpists
in the nation who incorporates vocals into her
show. She performs classical, pop and
contemporary music. Kristen started her band
titled Kristen Gibbs in 2011, and the band includes a bass player
and drummer. The combination of the three instruments and
vocals give a full sound perfect for an enjoyable evening in the
ballroom.
