Fall is a busy season for the WGA
9-Holers. On Sept. 19, the WGA
18 hosted this year’s Fun Fest and
subsequent lunch social for 9-holers.
We take turns hosting every year and
always enjoy playing with our 18-hole
counterparts.
On Sept. 27 we held our Member-Choice
Tournament, which was followed by
a social at the Cowan Creek Pavilion.
Members always have a great time when
they can invite a friend or husband to play!
Interest forms for those wishing to serve as
officers and committee members for next
year are now in and under review. Jan

What a huge month for our league!
We play for our 2016 Club
Champion on Oct. 10 at White
Wing, Oct. 11 at Legacy Hills and wrap
up the last day of the tournament on Oct.
13 at Cowan Creek. Will our 2015 Club
Champion Pam Redus be able to win the
title again? Or will it be one of our league’s
new members? We are expecting a big
turnout for this year’s tournament and
wish all the ladies the best of luck and
the best of play. Whatever the outcome,
everyone will feel like a winner during
the social following the last day of play at
Cowan Creek from 4-6 p.m. If you haven’t
signed up yet the deadline is Oct. 4.
Our last tournament of the season - the
Aces Tournament - will be held on Nov.
8 with the sign-up beginning Oct. 14
through Nov. 1.
There were no tournaments in August.
The Member/Member Tournament was
held in September with the results to
be included in the November Sun Rays
article, so this month seems to be a
little sparse with information to share.
So I decided to read through the Sun
City Texas local rules revised by our
WGA in February of this year. As I read
through the changes, I realized that I
should have read through these much

will be interviewing candidates and
preparing a slate of officers to present to
the members this month. The election will
follow at the November meeting.
Many members will be going to Berry
Creek for their Boo at the Creek
Tournament on Oct. 5. This 9-hole
tournament is always a blast, and we all
enjoy their luncheon afterward as well.
The Rally for the Cure will be held Oct.
21 on all three courses. Funds raised
during the August 30 Ring on a String
play day will be donated to the Rally
for the Cure. The MGA will be having
their fall Member/Member tournament
on Oct. 26 and 27, for which the WGA 9
sooner and probably needed to print out
a copy for my golf bag. Take a moment
to visit our website and specifically the
link to local rules; you might just learn
something new or maybe have a chuckle.
I know that when I read the “Local Rule
for Damage Caused by Animal Tracks or
Waste,” this section detailing relief from
the aforementioned situations gave me a
smile. I outright laughed when reading,
“For fire ant hills, relief is granted
anywhere on the course, including
hazards” - in other words, don’t mess with
the fire ants! This is just the best place to
live and play golf.
will provide homemade cookies and snacks
as a fundraiser. We enjoy the baking
and they seem to enjoy the energy boost
while they are playing. Finally, our Club
Championship will be held on Oct. 18 and
25 with a luncheon social immediately
following at the Legacy Hills Pavilion.
There will be low net winners in each
flight as well as an overall low gross Club
Champion.

Association (CGA)

A lot is happening in the CGA. The
club championship is upcoming
on Oct. 14 and 15, so be sure to
mark your calendar and register
online for either the 9-Holers or
the 18-Holers. 9-Holers will be
at White Wing playing the front
nine on Oct. 14 with the format
Chapman. They will play the back
nine on Oct. 15 with the format
Low Net. Both days will feature
a 1 p.m. shotgun. 18-Holers will
be playing Chapman format at
Legacy Hills on Oct. 14 and Low
Net format at Cowan Creek on Oct.
15. Both days will feature a 1 p.m.
shotgun. The championship will be
followed by a social at Legacy Hills
Pavilion at 6 p.m for both 9 Holers
and 18 Holers. Be sure to register
online. Social will be catered by
Mopsie Catering. Ticket cost will
be $3 per person.
