The Sun City Table Tennis Club plays at
Cowan Creek Amenity Center in the Sal-
ado Room Friday through Monday 8 a.m.
to 7 p.m. The club may also play Tuesday
through Thursday if the Salado Room is
not scheduled for use (check Salado Room
availability with the Cowan Creek Club
monitor or the association website). Table
tennis balls and tables are stored in the
Salado Room’s closet and paddles are in
the cabinet. Please sign the log-in book
on the counter whenever you play. Family
and friends of CA members are welcome
during non-club hours.
Table Tennis is a sport that can be played
at the beginner level (ping pong) or at the
Olympic level. Table tennis exercises your
brain and body, and puts a smile on your
face! Who says exercise can’t be fun? Table
tennis is a low-injury activity that can
be played by men and women of all ages,
including some nonagenarians. There is
a women’s group, a men’s group, mixed
play, singles and doubles. There is an an-
nual general meeting in November, four
board meetings a year and socials. The
club also offers members, at no additional
cost, beginner and intermediate clinics
and use of a robot for practice. Check the

socials and photos. Yearly dues are $10 a
person. The club is a friendly group where
everyone is supported and encouraged.

Tennis at Sun City is for all skill lev-
els and all playing schedules. Join
us and let’s play some tennis!
To reserve a court with your friends, use
the daily court schedule posted on the
bulletin board between courts two and
three. But for the most fun, from USTA
competition to attending fun socials, join
some of our many other activities.
Try Open Tennis. It’s doubles with no
partners, no levels and a friendly coordi-
nator to get you started. Play Monday

and Wednesday evenings or Friday morn-
ings at times posted on the court schedule
on the bulletin board. Just show up and
at 3:30 p.m. from the Social Center and

other like-minded (similar skills, sched-
ules, whatever) tennis players. Sign up
cards are, again, on the bulletin board.
Participate in our tournaments and
social activities. They are awesomely

Join Sun City Texas Tennis Associa-
tion (SCTTA). This is a deal! Members
get discounts on tournaments and so-
cial events and receive advance email
notification of leagues, tournaments and
socials. Joining is simple, go online at

The Visual Arts Club is a friendly, rapidly day of every other month. Please check the
growing organization providing opportu-
nities for Sun City residents to explore
their potential talent in the realm of the
visual arts. The studio is used for classes returning ladies interested in 18 holes of
throughout the year, as well as providing
space for members to paint on designated
days and offering meeting space for the Mockenhaupt at [email protected] or
seven SIGS (listed below).
For affordable, original artwork in a va-
riety of mediums, visit our exhibits at
Cowan Creek, the Activities Center, the
Social Center, and the Visual Arts Studio.
The VAC is sponsoring an exciting field
trip, now open to all Sun City residents.
Twenty-three members are exhibiting
their work at the Old Bakery and Em-
porium at 1006 Congress in Austin, Au-
gust 7 through September 3. A wine and
cheese reception for these artists will be
held Friday, August 7, and VAC members,
guests and Sun City residents interested
in attending the reception may purchase
a bus ticket online through the CA at the
cost of $25. The Clarke Travel Bus leaves
returns that evening, departing the Old
Bakery at 7:30 p.m. Besides attending
the reception, participants will have the
option of dinner on their own in the area
or attending two other art venues nearby.
VAC SIGs include: Oriental Brush, Oil
Painters, Water Media, Dry Media,
Zentangle, Professional Artists Forum,
and Alcohol Inks.

Sun City golf courses. In addition, golfers
are encouraged to attend our monthly
