The Sun City Table Tennis Club plays at
Cowan Creek Amenity Center in the Sal-
ado Room Friday through Monday 8 a.m.
to 7 p.m. The club may also play Tuesday
through Thursday if the Salado Room is
not scheduled for use (check Salado Room
availability with the Cowan Creek Club
monitor or the association website). Table
tennis balls and tables are stored in the
Salado Room’s closet and paddles are in
the cabinet. Please sign the log-in book
on the counter whenever you play. Family
and friends of CA members are welcome
during non-club hours.
Table Tennis is a sport that can be played
at the beginner level (ping pong) or at the
Olympic level. Table tennis exercises your
brain and body, and puts a smile on your
face! Who says exercise can’t be fun? Table
tennis is a low-injury activity that can
be played by men and women of all ages,
including some nonagenarians. There is
a women’s group, a men’s group, mixed
play, singles and doubles. There is an an-
nual general meeting in November, four
board meetings a year and socials. The
club also offers members, at no additional
cost, beginner and intermediate clinics
and use of a robot for practice. Check the

socials and photos. Yearly dues are $10 a
person. The club is a friendly group where
everyone is supported and encouraged.

els and all playing schedules. Join
us and let’s play some tennis!
To reserve a court with your friends, use
the daily court schedule posted on the
bulletin board between courts two and
three. But for the most fun, from USTA
competition to attending fun socials, join
some of our many other activities.
Try Open Tennis. It’s doubles with no
partners, no levels and a friendly coordi-
nator to get you started. Play Monday
ONLINE: SCTEXAS.ORG
and Wednesday evenings or Friday morn-
ings at times posted on the court schedule
on the bulletin board. Just show up and
have fun!
Use the Tennis Game Finder. Locate
other like-minded (similar skills, sched-
ules, whatever) tennis players. Sign up
cards are, again, on the bulletin board.
Participate in our tournaments and
social activities. They are awesomely
fun! How, you ask? How else, check the
bulletin board!
Join Sun City Texas Tennis Associa-
tion (SCTTA). This is a deal! Members
get discounts on tournaments and so-
cial events and receive advance email
notification of leagues, tournaments and
socials. Joining is simple, go online at
www.sctexas.org, buy a membership
“ticket” or call Phil King at 512-240-5797,
or get an application from the bulletin
board. It’s only $12 a year.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Club invites any resident
of Sun City who is interested in drawing
or painting to become a member and enjoy
the fellowship and shared experiences
of artists of all levels. Meetings are held day of every other month. Please check the
on the second Tuesday of each month in
the Florence and Georgetown Rooms at
Cowan Creek. The program for June will
feature the club’s six SIGs, and a repre-
sentative from each SIG will have the
opportunity to talk about the purpose
and features of his or her SIG.
The “Annual Summer Art Show and Re-
ception” will be held June 7 from 2 to 5
p.m. in the Activities Center at 1 Texas
Drive. Light refreshments will be served
as artists showcase original, affordable
works of art in a variety of mediums. This
show remains on display and art will be
for sale through Friday, July 31. Other
venues in Sun City to view and purchase
the club’s art are at Cowan Creek, the
Visual Arts Studio and the Community
Center.
June also brings the club’s participation
in Junior Summer Camp. On both June
18 and June 25 from 3:10 to 3:55 p.m.
campers will participate in a hands-on
art project involving alcohol inks and tile.
Club volunteers will guide campers, and
each child will have a finished project to
take home.
Patricia Williams, Education Chairman,
reminds us that enrollment for classes will
be done online as of June. Class schedules
can also be viewed on the website. Ques-

The WGA 9-Holers tee off on Tuesdays,
alternating weekly play among all three
Sun City golf courses. In addition, golfers
are encouraged to attend our monthly
general meetings which are held on the
second Tuesday of each month.
