The 9-hole ladies are back in the groove
and ready for a fabulous 2013. With a
membership of 181 lady golfers, this
organization is packed with fun-loving
gals! New officers have been elected
and installed, committees appointed
and both the social and play calendar
established.
Officers for 2013 are: President, Glen-
da Huckins; Vice-President, Barbara
Berry; Secretary, Emily Eldridge; and
Treasurer, Karen Reynolds. Susan My-
ers will continue as the representative
to the greater Sun City Golf Committee.
Organized play is each Tuesday. Dur-
ing the winter months, play begins at
1 p.m.; from spring through fall, play
begins at 7:30 a.m. Shotgun starts are
typically on the days a membership
meeting is held or when a social event
is planned after play.
A handicap must be established before
prizes can be won. Having a different
format every week and players often
not knowing what type of score will
earn sweeps (credits in the golf shop)
adds a nice element of anticipation to
the game. It is often surprising to check
the results each week.
With three flights in the group, there
is a nice spread of abilities. Tee times
and groups are randomly assigned by
the computer each week. Depending on
the format, foursomes might be assigned
according to handicap or they might be
comprised of different flights. This is a
fabulous and fun way to meet people.
Bi-monthly clinics are available for the
9-hole ladies. It is amazing how much
improvement can be made with just a
few sessions.

The 2013 year is off to a good start and
we have another full year of fun golf
events on the schedule. We kicked off
January with the 2nd Annual Chili
Bowl Cook-off and Golf Tournament,
and our second event of the year is
February 3, the Super Bowl Scramble.
These are just a couple of the fun golf
events we have scheduled so if you
