W
hen you check in at one of our
three Pro Shops, you should
allow yourself a few moments
to browse around to see what Sheila
Diller, our Golf Shop Manager, has
available for you. One of the things
you may notice about the clothes is that
each item is a bargain for residents.
You will find on many of the articles a
manufacturers recommended price, but
when you check the price you pay it will
usually be at least 25 percent less than
that. Non-residents have a price shown
that is always greater than that paid
by residents.
Our Pro Shops are stocked with items
from more than 50 vendors, which give
a great variety from which to choose.
Sheila also watches for and makes avail-
able items that are special sales and
close-outs with the extra savings being
passed along to our residents.
If you are in the market for golf clubs,
our Pro Shops sponsor multi-vendor
days twice a year where Adams, Cal-
loway, Cleveland and TaylorMade clubs
can be tested on the driving range so
you can see what the ball actually does.
Nike, King Cobra and Titleist also
schedule individual demo days. Hitting
into a net or even a computerized screen
just does not give the same feedback.
Also, there are demo clubs available to
check out for a round to give the club
the ultimate test before ordering. And,
the policy at Sun City Pro Shops is they
will match any big box store prices. In
fact, the day you pick up your club or
clubs, Sheila checks to be sure no one is
offering what you ordered for any less
before the sale is made, and, if so, she
will get that lower price.
Before buying a new driver, fairway
wood or set of irons, get one of our golf
pros to work a few minutes with you to
determine just the type of shaft, loft
and lie that you need on your clubs to
get maximum effectiveness. Being off
a degree or two on the lie angle or the
loft can negate the advantage that is
built into your new clubs.
In addition to those winning policies,
our Pro Shops will also match any big
box store prices on shoes, bags and
golf balls. And, there is almost always
a great selection of these items from
which you may choose. However, if what
you need is not in stock, ask and it will
be ordered for you, and you will get the
lowest price. The shops have catalogs
for shoes, hats, apparel, clubs, bags and
balls for special order.
If you are not in the market for new
clubs, you should at least consider re-
gripping your existing clubs. Slick, hard
grips make for many swing slips. Andy
Miller at White Wing does a variety of
club repairs including replacement of
old, worn grips.
Those who play in the MGA, WGA and
Zoomer tournaments are well aware
