Sweet Shots
of the fact that all winnings are paid
through the Pro Shops as “sweeps.”
However, that “sweeps” money is put
to great use as you are buying items at
the discounts the Pro Shop has in ef-
fect. This is a vital part of keeping our
Pro Shops going, and, if you have ever
played at some small muni-course that
does not have a pro shop, you know that
it is very inconvenient when you need
something.
But, here is something you should con-
sider when you are about to purchase
any golf related item: All profits generat-
ed by our merchandise sales are plowed
back into the operating expenses of our
three golf courses. This keeps our costs
down and reduces our need for addition-
al funding through higher green fees. In
2012, the merchandise sold through our
golf shops generated more than $87,000
in profit which went back into our cof-
fers…not some off-campus retailer. So,
buying here brings savings here.
