Upbeat Ukulele Troupe

Community Association

We are a new special interest group under the Singers Club. If you can sing in the car and tap on the steering wheel, you can play the uke! No need to read music, the chord diagrams show dots where you put fingers; know a few chords and you're singing happy tunes. Most of our players are brand new, see our section about how to buy a ukulele and get started.

  • Jam Sessions are on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4:00-5:00 pm. Join us in the Atrium @ Activities Center,1 Texas Drive.
  • Pop-Up sessions: New to Uke Basics & Specific Skill Trainings will be on the calendar and HERE.
  • Small Groups: PreJam practices and working on skills with uke buddies, set up by individual players. Future growth might include an advanced group, a newbie mentor group, and a group who picks our songs.
  • Always Print or Download Music for each event, bring a music stand, and wear any name tag.

If you have never played, you are invited to sing along in our big semi-circle. Then, get a ukulele and learn from the community we have created - come to Jams, and join a Small Practice Group to work on skills together. If you decide to continue playing with us after 2 visits, please join our chartered club parent, The Singers Club for just $15 per year.

Our Mission Statement:

Here's a little group for fun. Where we get to tap and strum.

Don't worry, be happy.

Just grab a little uke and play. It'll put a smile on your face.

So don't worry, be happy.

We're gonna get by with a little help from our friends.

Yeah, yeah, we're gonna try with a little help from our friends.

Come play in the cool and shady,

where the tricky wicky wackies woo.

If you like a'strum a'Ukulele, Upbeat Ukulele Troupe a'like a'you.

Selected lyrics from: Don't Worry Be Happy, by Bobby McFerrin; With A Little Help From My Friends, by The Beatles; & Ukulele Lady, by Arlo Guthrie.
