Science continues to show that the best cardiovascular activity to strengthen our heart AND sharpen our brain is dancing. We know that any type of physical activity is good for our health, but dance is the only physical activity shown to lower our risk of dementia, improve memory and boost our problem-solving ability.

 

Dance synchronizes music and movement. Music stimulates our brain’s reward centers, while dance activates it’s sensory and motor circuits. Even a short dance session can significantly improve our mood, and brain function, as well as improve our balance and gait. In fact, dance is so beneficial that it is being used as therapy for people with Parkinson’s and other progressive neurological disorders.
