Remember too that In a power failure, we still need the means to recharge our phones so we can stay connected - planning ahead can keep you safe.

Smart 911- This service helps 9-1-1 protect your family by providing more information to first responders. The program can be accessed on both the APP and website. Smart 9-1-1 allows citizens to provide additional details that 9-1-1 call takers may need to assist them during an emergency. Anytime you make a 9-1-1 call from a phone registered with your Safety Profile the 9-1-1 system recognizes your phone number and automatically displays your profile on the screen of the call taker who receives your call.

Over 80% of calls to 9-1-1 come from cell phones. When you call from a cell phone call takers only have a general sense of your location in relation to the cell tower used. With Smart 9-1-1 you can provide call takers and first responders critical information you want them to know in any kind of emergency. The call takers can view your address, medical information including allergies and medications, home information, descriptions of pets and vehicles, and emergency contacts. You can provide as much or as little information as you like. Smart 9-1-1 has the capability to send notifications in cases of emergency. You can select the types of notifications you want, how you want to be notified and the times you want to be notified.

  1. www.warncentraltexas.org - this is the regional notification system. In addition, there is an APP for this site. WarnCentralTexas.org is the portal for residents to sign up for the ten-county Regional Notification System (RNS) to get email, text or phone messages related to local disasters, and receive evacuation, shelter in place or boil water notices. Registering will ensure that you are on the City of Georgetown and Williamson County notification list should a disaster or public safety event occur in or near your neighborhood.
  2. www.ready.gov – this is the FEMA readiness website. Use this to download forms, make safety plans and link to federally sponsored trainings. There is an APP and an emergency contact tool that can be downloaded also.
  3. https://georgetown.org/ - This is the City of Georgetown’s website. Please use for any emergency updates from the city.
