News for Jan 2023

Hey N69,

Not a lot of news this month, but before I get to that, we still need to fill some vacancies on our leadership team, like block captains for Blocks #2, along Kitty Hawk, and #10, Benton Lane near Kitty Hawk. Being a block captain really doesn’t take much time; it just gives you a chance to get to know your immediate neighbors enough to help them out when they have questions or need a little assistance with something. Please let me or Robert know if you’re even slightly interested in the job. There’s also info on the NRO website; look for the Block Captain Toolbox.

The other vacancy is new—Charlie has decided to step down from the  Emergency Management Coordinator position for N69, a job he did very well, so we need someone new to step in. He’s already got everything set up, so you would mostly need to just go to the monthly meetings and report to our leadership team what occurred. Again, please let me or Robert know if you have more questions about it.

OK, now for the latest NRO meeting news:

  1. FYI, if you haven’t heard about Helping Hands, they’re a local group that lends medical equipment for home use, and they have everything you could possibly need—don’t buy it! Don’t hesitate to contact John Viers if you need to borrow something, at 512-639-02622 or [email protected].
  2. Jim Romine, whom you should know is the Sun City HOA Chair, gave a very quick rundown of projects for this year—not a lot of details, but here’s a list:
    1. Final fixes to Legacy golf course will be finished. There will be UIL golf tourneys here again this year.
    2. No deer trapping.
    3. Doing a review of Sun City’s Reserves for future projects.
    4. CA staff get CPR/AED training annually.
    5. Provided another storage unit for Helping Hands.
    6. License plate readers were installed last week—more info on that on the Resident Homepage.
    7. Silver Hall, the new building at the pickleball courts FINALLY got all its permits completed so now they have bids out for construction. It will be a place for specific clubs to have meetings, and any openings we can use for neighborhood meetings. It will have an outdoor basketball half-court as well, but Pulte won’t be starting construction on the houses to be built by the courts any time soon.
    8. Yes, the Northpoint Amenity Center is still scheduled to open this April (maybe May)! Pulte is also planning more common areas throughout Northpoint neighborhoods.
    9. CA will be holding more fairs and garage sales (twice yearly for these).
    10. They’ve renewed Mulligans’ contract with Sun City.
    11. Only if the Madison tract (more on this below) is developed will Pulte consider building a Par-3 golf course in that area, and only that area.
  3. Steve Ashlock from Pulte then briefly listed all the new neighborhoods they are still building, most of which you know about, along Rocky Hollow Creek Rd and Silver Spur.
    1. They will also be building duplexes late this year next to the softball field, up by 195.
    2. The new dog park by the Northpoint Amenity Center won’t be built until the building is pretty much complete, since they’re using that area for the construction trucks to drive in—you’ve probably seen the construction road if you use the other Silver Spur entrance.
    3. The Madison tract is next to Shady Oaks and neighborhood #88, east of Sun City Blvd. It will have 470+ lots but WON’T have Sun City access.
    4. Subdivisions across Ronald Reagan Blvd are starting construction later this year—gee, can’t wait for that! Also, there will be some commercial development at the intersection of CR245 and Ronald Reagan Blvd, but not by Pulte, which doesn’t do commercial.
  4. Some upcoming Sun City events to watch for in the Communicators and NRO Bulletins:
    1. Vendor Fair Mar 10th, this is where local companies offer their services/products at the Social Center ballroom. A good thing to check out if you want to make changes at your house or yard.
    2. Next Garage Sale Apr 1st; we don’t have plans yet to have a booth like last year.
    3. Health Fair May 19th
    4. Home & Garden Fair, June 16th

    Also, some Georgetown news:

  • Prices are down for Pulte’s new homes, which isn’t good if you’re trying sell a house right now.
  • Feb 1st is the State of the City at the Council Chambers downtown from 6-8:30, if you’re interested in where the city is and where it’s going.
  • City Council has a design for the new parking garage to be built on 6th Street
  • If you still have holiday string lights you’d like to get rid of, there’s a bin at Cowan Creek until Jan 31st—lights only! No other Christmas decorations, please!
  • Mar 10th-12th: Williamson County will celebrate its 175th birthday on the square—big doings then. More info later!

That's it for now,

Deb
