Lunch on your own
Thursday, Jan. 18, $26  pp
Depart SCPL 9:15 a.m.; return 3:30 p.m.

Not only will we tour the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum of our 36th President, but we will also get to see Madeleine Albright’s private collection of 200 pins and brooches which she has titled Read My Pins.  The legendary pins and brooches, which this diplomat wore daily on her suits, conveyed hidden meanings, hopes and feelings.  Many were gifts and hold historic significance, and you may read about them in her book available for purchase in the bookstore.  I (Ellen) have read the book and found it fascinating.  After a nine year tour, this exhibit ends in Austin.

After touring we will head to Second Street  in the heart of downtown Austin for lunch on your own.  You will be able to choose from such places as Jo’s coffee house, Taverna, Lambert’s and many more;  general information and maps will be provided.

Following lunch we will go to the brand new Austin Central Library for a private tour of this six story facility with its grackle clock and roof garden.  NOTE:  This hour long tour will be all walking and standing.

Ticket cost includes transportation and library and exhibit fees.
