Verification Survey
To maintain our "55 or over" exemption, Federal law requires us to periodically update our records and confirm that at least 80% of the households in Sun City Texas have at least one resident 55 years of age or over. One member of each household is asked to log into the website and take the one-question survey. After one person in the household has done this, no other members of the household will need to take the survey. (HINT: If you log into the website and are not prompted to take the survey, then another household member has already done so.)

Yielding to Emergency Vehicles
I was recently asked to publish a Friendly Reminder concerning the proper action to take when you encounter an emergency vehicle on the roadway. I checked with our friends at the Georgetown Police Department and they provided the law below:
Sec. 545.156. VEHICLE APPROACHED BY AUTHORIZED EMERGENCY VEHICLE.
(a) On the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle using audible and visual signals that meet the requirements of Sections 547.305 and 547.702, or of a police vehicle lawfully using only an audible signal, an operator, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall:
(1) yield the right-of-way;
(2) immediately drive to a position parallel to and as close as possible to the right-hand edge or curb of the roadway clear of any intersection; and
(3) stop and remain standing until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed.
(b) This section does not exempt the operator of an authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the highway.
Be safe and I hope this friendly reminder is helpful.

Profile & Preferences
It's Important to check your own Profile & Preferences by March 22! Even if you have been listed in the printed directory in the past, it is critical that each resident log into the website using their own member ID (not their spouse’s) to check and update their profile.

City Seeks Proposals for Third-party Energy Management Review
The City of Georgetown is seeking proposals for both managing the City’s energy portfolio and for a comprehensive review of the City’s management practices related to purchasing and managing energy.
“Our current process for managing our energy is not achieving our goals,” General Manager of Utilities Jim Briggs said. “Along with selling a portion of the excess energy to a third-party, we look forward to working with industry experts in identifying ways to better manage the energy portfolio day-to-day and putting in place policies and procedures that reduce our financial risks moving forward.”
