 WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
Living Well
 The CA Fitness Department is offering a new 12-week weight management program called Living Well beginning Wednesday, Jan. 30. This program has weekly speakers, covers good nutrition and eating habits, plus fitness class tickets and chances to win weekly door prizes!
 Over 580 lbs. were lost at the last weight management program!
 City of Georgetown Town Hall
Thursday, Jan. 24 • SCB
Sun City Texas is within the city limits of Georgetown. How the city operates and the decisions it makes affect you, so please take this opportunity to join us for this Town Hall. Georgetown City Manager, David Morgan, will give a 45-minute presentation at 9:30 a.m.
 
Before and after the presentation, you will have an opportunity to meet with City departments. Department representatives will be at tables from 9 - 9:30 a.m. & 10:15 - 11 a.m.

Untangling Dementia for the Caregiver

The Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area presents keynote speaker, Gerontologist Tam Cummings, Ph.D., discussing the complexities of dementia and the skills needed to work effectively with persons with dementia. Dr. Cummings is passionate about helping caregivers and has helped thousands of families and professionals understand each stage of dementia and the process of this disease.
 
The first 250 attendees will receive Untangling Alzheimer's by Tam Cummings, Ph.D. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided. 
City/County News
City of Georgetown Celebrates
Martin Luther King Day
 
A variety of events are scheduled to celebrate, honor and continue the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. On Monday, Jan. 21, there will be a march, program and youth service. Southwestern University will hold a three-day symposium on Jan. 22-24.
 
City Closures
The offices of the City of Georgetown will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. There will be normal solid waste and recycling collection on Jan. 21.
Candidate Filing Period for May Election
 
The filing period for candidates who wish to run for a seat on the Georgetown City Council has begun. The places for Districts 3, 4 and 7 will be on the ballot for the election this spring.
