Friendly Reminders

Donation Bins, Crosswalks & Parking Lots

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

  1. Just a reminder that at the Activity Center by the Atrium main doors , there are three donation bins for; unused glasses sponsored by the LIONS PROJECT, The Caring Place Food Drive , and Heavenly Harvest Food Bank. Please try to remember these bins and the folks they help especially during the upcoming holiday season.
  2. Crosswalks- Please remember to yield to pedestrians who are in the crosswalks.
  3. Please respect the coned off areas in our parking lots that are being resealed. We have had some problems with residents walking on the wet asphalt sealing and tracking it into our buildings.

Side note: I apologize for inadvertently stating that the new pedestrian trail between N-59 and SC Blvd. would have a decomposed granite surface. We ended up using mulch on this trail and feel that once it packs down, it will provide a nice surface for our walkers.

Be Visible When
Walking or Running

imgIf you are one of the many walkers or runners in Sun City Texas, we urge you to practice some basic safety tips. Often people forget that they are especially hard to see on the street in the evening, at night and in the twilight of early morning. Distracted drivers and limited visibility due to weather, landscaping, parked cars or other traffic are other factors that put you at risk.

We encourage you to run or walk on one of our many off-street trails whenever possible. However, if you need to run or walk in the street consider these safety tips:

  • Wear bright colors or reflective clothing. A simple white t-shirt might save your life!
  • Consider purchasing a runner’s safety light and keep it on for the duration of your walk. You can buy lighted or flashing armbands, shoe lights or lights that clip onto your belt. A head lamp will ensure that you avoid obstacles.
  • NEVER assume that a car sees you when crossing the street.
  • Make sure that you can be seen both coming and going.
  • DON’T wear headphones. You must be able to hear a car approach.
  • Run or walk on the left side of the road (or against traffic) so that you see approaching vehicles.

Let’s be safe!

Golf Operations Improvement Proposal

Submitted by Gary Wilson, Director of Golf, 512-948-7705 or [email protected]

After reviewing the recommendations of the Golf Operations Audit by Up to Par Management, the Golf Department has put together a proposal for operational improvements to the golf amenity in Sun City Texas. This proposal was put together based on substantial input from Up to Par, senior CA Staff and the full Board of Directors of Sun City Texas.

Golf's objective is to become and remain a profitable amenity as we move toward transition. Our profitability will provide the needed capital to purchase equipment coming off lease and provide the funds necessary for future projects in conjunction with reserve funds.

In summary we have four major areas of focus:

  • Marketing
  • Equipment Leases and Purchases
  • Staffing Levels
  • Levels of appearance

Please click the link below to read the full proposal. If you would like to submit feedback, please email [email protected].
