Mammoth Site & Dr Pepper Museum

The story of the Waco Mammoth
has captured the imagination of Central Texans
for almost 40 years. Two young men searching
for arrowheads along the Brazos River on a
spring day in 1978 led to the nation’s first and only recorded
discovery of a nursery herd of Pleistocene mammoths. Take a
guided tour of our newest National Park, walk through the Dig
Shelter with fossil remains on view, and hear the story of this
amazing site.
Our next stop is Rudy’s BBQ for lunch on your own. Slow smoked
brisket, sausage, ribs, chicken and turkey with all the fixin’s, a
tour through BBQ heaven.
After lunch explore another Waco discovery, Dr Pepper, America’s
first major soft drink brand. A guided tour will take us back
to the early days of Dr Pepper and through a treasure trove of
memorabilia – bicycles, pedal cars, calendars, clocks, Dr Pepper
advertisements and merchandise. A new gift shop and soda
fountain and 7000 square feet have been added to the original
museum. Our tour will end with a frosty Dr Pepper float!
NOTE: The Dig Shelter is a ¼ mile walk on a concrete
path; the Dr Pepper tour is approx. 45 minutes of walking.
Ticket cost includes transportation, museum tours, and Dr Pepper
float.

Dinner at Pappdeaux begins our
evening with their famous Pappadeaux salad
on our tables when we arrive. When you
purchase tickets, select your entrée: ginger
salmon, a char-grilled filet; pan grilled tilapia topped with toasted test area.
hazelnuts; seafood mixed grill with dirty rice; or rosemary
chicken. Choose vanilla cheesecake with fresh strawberries or
chocolate cake for dessert. A cash bar will be available with
ample time for a beverage of your choice. Coffee, tea, gratuity
and tax are included.
Following dinner we will go to Esther’s Follies for non-stop
laughter. This show is a good mix of skits with timely current
events and magic that will amaze you. Esther’s Follies never
disappoints us. The “talk of the town” for years, the material is
always fresh, funnier that you remember and provides an evening

of true entertainment. If laughter is good for the soul, this show
will add years to your life.

First we will head to Cabela’s in
Buda where you can grab a late breakfast/early
lunch or do some shopping. This 185,000
square foot retail showroom is packed with
outdoor equipment, lifelike taxidermy, aquarium and archery
At 11 a.m. we will leave Cabela’s to go to the SAS Factory and
General Store for a tour of their handcrafted shoes. Most of
their shoes have polyurethane soles that cushion your feet on
millions of tiny air bubbles so you are literally walking on air.
