CREEPY CRITTER IDENTIFIED
Thanks to Claire Bloodgood and Ginger Przybys for
identifying the “creepy critter” shown in the August
Sun Rays. The black and white image of the strange
little beast was captured on the security camera of
Phil and Jerri Matthews. The critter is a ring-tailed
cat, a member of the raccoon family.
Resident Iris Chauffe snapped the inset photo of a
ring-tail at her home at 104 Independence Creek
                                   Lane.
Ring-tails are small, only 12-17 inches long and weigh
1.5-3.3 lb. They are mostly nocturnal. They possess
superior hearing and sight. They are easily trained
and can make loving pets and effective mousers.
Long ago, miners and settlers kept them to keep
                                   their cabins free of vermin.

                                            UP, UP AND AWAY!
On their recent vacation to Albuquerque, NM, Helen and
Jerry Sellers and Judy and Jim Truho enjoyed a hot air
balloon ride with Pilot Neil. After landing on a beautiful
golf course, the passengers were treated to a champagne
brunch in a nearby park. The next day, a Sandia Mountain
tram ride and ski lift ride were enjoyed by this foursome.
A wonderful time was had by all!
