of the fires. During our stay in Watson
Lake, the group paid a visit to the Sign-
post Forest, where thousands of signs
had been posted by passing travelers.
We added our own to represent the Sun
City Texas RV Club. Hanging the sign
was a group effort, with Davey ham-
mering, Cathy and Darby preventing
Davey from falling and the rest provid-
ing encouragement.
JULY 12
DESTRUCTION BAY, YT -
HISTORICAL MILE 1083
When we reached our stopping point,
we found we were right on Kluane Lake.
It was a beautiful site, with majestic
views of the St. Elias Mountains and
turquoise-blue glacial waters. Spotted
two grizzlies today, one of which was a
mom with her two cubs. The Holmes and
Lannoms stopped to get a closer look at
a male grizzly. They had a great view,
but when they walked closer to the bear
he reared up on his back feet - he was
pretty darn big!

Alaskan pipeline, Fairbanks, AK. The
pipeline is maintained by “smart pigs” -
instrumented apparatuses that inspect
the pipelines for corrosion and defor-
mation, and “dumb pigs” which clean
the inside of the pipeline.
