Kenneth and Karen bring their
love of the sea to their gardening.
Moving to Sun City with plans of
whittling down the size of their
garden, they soon found our
local deer have the same goal!
Since then, they have been mind-
ful of using plants such as cactus
and Sago Palms that work in a
landscape where certain animal
friends look upon our landscapes
as dining facilities. Fortunately,
the lemons hanging from their
potted Meyer lemon tree have
not been on the deer’s pick list.
In their back yard, where grass
would not grow, they added a
second seating area under the
deep shade of towering trees. By
creating this seating area amidst
plants and lofty trees, Kenneth
and Karen were able to conserve
water through the removal of six
