GOLF
WGA 18-Hole Group
Submitted by Liz Gove
Fall is a wonderful time to come join
us for some fun golfing and, hopefully,
cooler weather. The WGA 18-Hole Group
plays every Tuesday. We welcome all
Sun City women golfers to join us. If
you are interested, please e-mail Barb
Jeppe at
, or Pam
Pannell, our president, at pampannell@
suddenlink.net.
This month, we salute our Play Day
Chairperson and WGA-18 VP Cathy
Brickner. Cathy has done an outstanding
job of coordinating the play day sched-
ules this year. She works with over 100
members each week, keeping things or-
ganized with a smile. It is a big job, man-
aging the flights, times and groupings,
and we give our thanks to you, Cathy.
September was a busy month. Our Mem-
ber/Member Tournament was held Sep-
tember 8 and 9, and our Fun Fest with
the WGA-9 Holers was held on Septem-
ber 29. Both events saw good turnouts
and lots of fun. Winners will be recog-
nized in the next issue of the
Sun Rays
.
Again, we need to praise our tournament
chairpersons, Becky Scofield and Pat
Blankenship; Linda Copt, chairperson
for the Fun Fest; Margo Maddux, our
Social Chairperson, and the many mem-
bers who pitch in to make our events fun
Legacy Hills 18th Hole
Submitted by Erik Beyer, PGA, Head Golf Professional, Legacy Hills
Often times, resident groups withmore
than one foursome like to gather in the
decomposed granite area behind the
18th green at Legacy Hills. Please
note that the tables and chairs have
been relocated to the patio area behind
The Oaks, due to numerous complaints
about the volume of these groups and
the distraction it creates, due to its
proximity to the 18th green. Addition-
ally, this area is “in play”, giving rise to
a potential safety issue. The golf staff
would like to request that golfers re-
frain from congregating in this area.
Your cooperation is appreciated.

Fall golf is in full swing in Sun City,
Texas. This has to be everyone’s favorite
time of year for golf in Central Texas. The
weather has cooled, the course conditions
are as good as they get, and our handi-
caps are as low as they have ever been
- well, two out of three isn’t bad. I guess
it’s time to go see one of our Pros, take
a lesson and practice, practice, practice.
MGA membership now surpasses 640;
this represents a 9% increase over year-
end 2013 total. Playday participation
continues to increase, and our pace of
play initiative is working. Now, we are
experiencing more sub 4-hour rounds
than rounds over our 4-hour 10-minute
pace of play goal. Congratulations!
